What Kids Want to Know

Do I have to sit at a desk at Story Stage?

No! We don’t even have desks! We do have costumes and props and backdrops, though.

What if I don’t want to share a personal story?

No problem. We don’t want you to feel that you ever have to share anything too personal or private. We will teach you that stories have to come from a truth…that truth could be as simple as you don’t like peanut butter or are allergic to cats.

Are you gonna make me listen to a lot of boring stories?

The stories we use at Story Stage all come from you and the friends in your group. You get to tell the stories that you want to tell.

Is this like theater class?

Not exactly. At Story Stage we will use props, act out scenes, and give performances, like in theater. But you will decide how to use the props, what to say, and how to interact on stage.  If you like theater, you will probably have fun here and learn a lot, but we don’t teach acting.

Can I be in the same class as my friend?

Our classes are small, but if space allows, we would love to have you and your friend together. We expect most of the classes at Story Stage will be a mix of boys and girls of different ages. You just might make a new friend while you are here!
